Second-hand brand Cent Neuf continues its ascent in the fashion world with the inauguration of its first men’s space at Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann. This expansion follows the successful opening of its women’s space last January, marking a new stage in the democratization of sustainable fashion.
An innovative approach to second-hand
Founded in 2023, Cent Neuf is revolutionizing the concept of the traditional thrift store by adopting the codes of classic ready-to-wear brands. Under the artistic direction of Gaultier Desandre Navarre, the company offers two annual collections per gender, composed of carefully selected pieces from across Europe. The distinctive feature of their approach lies in the treatment of the garments: each piece is washed and disinfected in Picardie before being put on sale, guaranteeing near-new quality without the environmental impact of traditional production.
A brand that shakes things up
The founding trio, Alexandre, Mathilde and Gaultier, have created a true brand identity that goes beyond the simple concept of a thrift store. Their sophisticated marketing approach manifests itself through elaborate collection campaigns, where garments are staged in shoots worthy of the greatest fashion magazines. The brand calls on a collections director to ensure the stylistic coherence of its wardrobe, offering pieces ranging from Ralph Lauren-inspired shirts to velvet dresses, in mini or maxi versions.
A growing success at Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann
Cent Neuf’s move to Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann marks a decisive turning point in the brand’s history. Following the opening of a 30m² women’s space in January, the brand inaugurated its 55m² men’s corner on February 5, 2025. This presence in one of the world’s most prestigious department stores testifies to a significant evolution in the perception of second-hand fashion.
As the designers point out, “Our arrival at Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann is a major step forward in our mission to re-enchant the pleasure of dressing, without compromising between style and conscience.” This vision perfectly reflects their ambition to offer fashion that is both accessible and timeless, where true luxury lies in the harmony between personal style and environmental awareness.
A sustainable alternative
At a time when the environmental impact of fashion is becoming a major concern, Cent Neuf stands out as a concrete and elegant solution. The brand joins other well-known players in Parisian second-hand fashion, such as Le Vif in the 16th arrondissement and En Monsieur in the 11th, while distinguishing itself through its structured approach and premium positioning.
