Le Grand Dîner du Louvre: the Met Gala à la française?
On March 4, 2025, Paris will host the very first Grand Dîner du Louvre, a prestigious evening where fashion and art will unite in the timeless elegance of the Cour Marly.
Inspired by New York’s legendary Met Gala, the Grand Dîner du Louvre aims to become a not-to-be-missed event on the Parisian scene. Held at the very heart of Women’s Fashion Week, this unique evening will bring together influential figures from the worlds of fashion, art and culture in an exceptional setting. Under the vaulted roof of the Cour Marly, hand-picked guests will celebrate the meeting of artistic heritage and contemporary glamour.
An evening to celebrate fashion and art
The Grand Dîner will coincide with the opening of the exhibition ” Louvre Couture: Objets d’art, objets de mode “, inaugurated on January 24, 2025. This exceptional retrospective highlights the dialogue between classical art and contemporary fashion through a hundred unique pieces. Masterpieces from the archives of major fashion houses such as Chanel, Dior and Hermès will rub shoulders with modern creations by Marine Serre, Charles de Vilmorin and JW Anderson. On an immersive 9,000 m² tour, visitors will travel through the ages, from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance, via the Second Empire.
A French rival at the Met Gala?
Like its New York counterpart, the Grand Dîner du Louvre is intended to be exclusive and glamorous. Supported by Visa Infinite, the evening will bring together 300 guests, including fashion designers, patrons of the arts and international stars. Before a sumptuous dinner under the majestic statues of the Cour Marly, guests will enjoy a private tour of the exhibition. This prestigious event also serves a noble cause: over a million euros have already been raised to finance the Louvre’s cultural missions.
