Love New Year’s Eve (or not), love dinner BEHIND it

When you turn onto rue des Gravilliers, you inevitably come to a stop in front of the porch of the private mansion at 69. On the street, the 404 restaurant and the Andy Wahloo bar, and between them, at the back of the courtyard, a restaurant as we like them, simple, friendly and flamboyant.

This unique concept, created by Mourad Mazouz, transforms a former apartment into an arty space where each room tells a story. For New Year’s Eve, this place aims to reveal all its magic.

New Year’s behind

Spending New Year’s Eve OUTSIDE is like celebrating at a friend’s house, with no strings attached, while enjoying the food and entertainment. From December 15 onwards, a special end-of-year menu is available, featuring a number of “festive” products – foie gras, scallop tartare, capon, etc. – while remaining true to the spirit of the place: no set menus and reasonable prices. This freedom of choice perfectly reflects the relaxed philosophy of one of the editors’ favorite establishments.

On New Year’s Eve, the atmosphere is stepped up a notch with a soundtrack specially conceived for the occasion by our regular music designer. After dinner, the festivities can continue at Andy Wahloo’s bar, on the other side of the courtyard, for those wishing to dance the night away (subject to availability). This balance between sophistication and conviviality makes DERRIÈRE an ultra-desirable option for celebrating the passage to the New Year.

A place with a unique ambience

DERRIÈRE stands out for its relaxed, warm atmosphere. Every detail of the decor, designed by Mourad Mazouz, is reminiscent of a New York loft from the 70s, mixed with the ambience of a Parisian apartment. Paintings, posters and atypical objects dot the space. It’s intimate and crazy at the same time, like the home of an artist friend. The mysterious cupboard, which leads to a curiosity cabinet-style smoking room, adds a touch of modern dandyism to the already distinctive restaurant.

The space caters for a wide range of customers, from trendy Parisians to international visitors. The idea is simple: to feel at home, thanks to a welcoming team and a deliberately convivial atmosphere. The place is ideal for an intimate moment with friends and family, or for a joyful dinner with family and friends.
