Beyoncé unveils the Cowboy Carter Art Book
The 32 Grammy Award-winning star Beyoncé has released a 136-page book of exclusive photos to extend the universe of her album “Cowboy Carter”.
Announced via a video teaser on the Parkwood Entertainment account, the Cowboy Carter Art Book is much more than just a photographic book. It’s a new facet of his eighth studio album, an innovative country project combining music and visuals to deconstruct and reinterpret the codes of the American Western through an African-American perspective.
A dive into the world of Cowboy Carter
With 27 tracks carefully crafted over five years, Beyoncé explores a musical genre often perceived as far removed from its roots. Collaborating with icons such as Dolly Parton and Miley Cyrus, she dialogues with Western heritage while celebrating black artists. This art book accompanies that process, offering images that redefine the myths of the Wild West.
On the cover, Beyoncé embodies her alter ego “Cowboy Carter”: dressed in a tricolored American scarf, adorned with turquoise stones and reinterpreting bolo ties in grillz, she skilfully blends the codes of western folklore and hip-hop culture. This visual crossbreeding invites us to reflect on the complex history of the western, integrating its indigenous, Mexican and Afro-American origins.
A collector’s item with a cult following
The book, already highly coveted, follows a similar artistic vein to Pharrell Williams’ Louis Vuitton Homme autumn-winter 2024 collection. Through this book, Beyoncé offers a contemporary and respectful vision of the western, celebrating its multiple cultural influences.
The Cowboy Carter Art Book is much more than a book: it enriches Beyoncé’s monumental cultural legacy, extending the impact of her album and confirming her status as a cultural and artistic icon.
