Le Printemps: European pioneer of cryptocurrency payments
The Printemps group is looking to the future by becoming the first European department store to accept cryptocurrency payments, thanks to an innovative partnership with Binance and Lyzi.
A revolution in the shopping experience
From now on, Printemps store customers can pay for their purchases in digital currencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, EURI and USDC. The process is quick and easy: a QR code to scan, a currency to select and a payment confirmation. Thanks to this solution, set up with Binance, the world leader in cryptocurrency exchanges, and Lyzi, a specialist French fintech, transactions are converted into euros to avoid market fluctuations.
This initiative marks an important step in the group’s strategy to appeal to a connected, forward-looking customer base. According to Printemps, this innovation is part of a move to adapt to the needs of its consumers. In France, although cryptocurrency users are still limited (around 6.5 million), their growth is dazzling on a global scale with over 562 million holders, or 6.8% of the global population.
A trend followed by major brands
With this move, Printemps joins other major fashion houses such as Gucci, Balenciaga and Hublot, which are already integrating this payment method to appeal to a younger generation adept at digital technologies. The group is thus affirming its determination to align itself with the expectations of these new consumers, while reinforcing its position as a forerunner in European retail.
This shift towards Web3 could well redefine the standards of the in-store customer experience.
