Clara Luciani on the big screen? Her debut in “Joli joli
On the eve of the launch of her latest album, Mon sang, which echoes the birth of her first child, Clara Luciani turns her attention to the seventh art. Diastème offered her the lead role in his musical Joli, Joli.
Clara Luciani, renowned for her deep, bewitching voice and her polished lyrics, makes a remarkable foray into cinema with the musical Joli joli. Directed by Diastème, this original work plunges us into a retro world between Paris and Rome, reminiscent of the aesthetics of Jacques Demy’s films.
A story of music and nostalgia
In this film, Clara Luciani plays Léonore, a rising actress of the 70s, who crosses paths with Elias, a struggling writer. Their destinies intertwine in a love story full of pitfalls, misunderstandings and twists and turns. With melodies by Alex Beaupain(Les Chansons d’amour), this story pays tribute to French chanson and classic cinema. The singer, of Sicilian and Corsican descent, finds here fertile ground for expressing her artistic fiber, and reinforces her connection with the legacy of Françoise Hardy and Michel Legrand.
A brilliant cast for a promising debut
Alongside Clara Luciani, William Lebghil plays Elias. They are surrounded by an eclectic cast including Laura Felpin, José Garcia and Vincent Dedienne. Such a team promises an entertaining on-screen chemistry.
Previewed at the Saint-Jean-de-Luz International Film Festival, Joli, joli charmed audiences at its opening screening. The film will be officially released on December 25, becoming a melodious alternative to classic holiday films.
This project marks a prolific period for Clara Luciani. Between her new album Mon sang, a tour starting in January 2025 and her film debut, the artist continues to diversify her field of action. What does the future hold for Clara Luciani in the cinema?
