Pamela Anderson returns to center stage with a starring role in The Last Showgirl, directed by Gia Coppola. This poignant drama explores the struggles of a showgirl facing a turning point in her life.

A story of emotions and resilience

In The Last Showgirl, Pamela Anderson plays a 50-something showgirl whose show suddenly closes after 30 years. Forced to reinvent herself, she must also reconnect with her daughter, too often cast aside. At the Toronto International Film Festival, where the film premiered, Anderson shared, “This role allowed me to free myself from my physical image and refocus on who I really am.”

Gia Coppola, a promising director

Gia Coppola, granddaughter of Francis Ford Coppola, has made a name for herself with films such as Palo Alto (2013). After a discreet pause in her career, she returns with this daring project, which spotlights the complex female characters she’s so fond of.

Shot in Las Vegas and featuring a prestigious cast including Jamie Lee Curtis, Kiernan Shipka and Billie Lourd, the film boasts a script by Kate Gersten(The Good Place), polished photography by Autumn Durald Arkapaw(Black Panther: Wakanda Forever) and a soundtrack by Andrew Wyatt(Barbie).

Touted as a potential Oscar contender, not least for Anderson’s performance, The Last Showgirl marks a turning point in the actress’s career. A far cry from the light-hearted cameos and comic supporting roles that have marked her career in recent years, this lead role reveals a deeper, more emotional side to her talent.

A long-awaited release

Scheduled for release in the U.S. on January 10, 2025, the film does not yet have an official release date in France. With this comeback, Pamela Anderson proves that she remains an iconic figure, capable of reinventing herself in poignant and demanding roles.
