Arab Week at UNESCO

On November 4 and 5, 2024, Paris will host Arab Week at UNESCO, celebrating the richness and diversity of Arab cultures in a prestigious setting.

For the first time in over 70 years, the Arab nations will gather in Paris, under the aegis of UNESCO, to highlight their common heritage and promote intercultural dialogue. This historic event, organized by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, underlines the growing commitment of Arab countries on the international stage.

Arab Week at UNESCO represents a unique opportunity to discover the diversity of Arab cultural contributions to history and humanity. Visitors will have access to varied exhibitions including Arabic calligraphy, authentic cultural products and presentations of UNESCO heritage sites.

A rewarding program

The event features a rich agenda of activities, including interactive workshops, seminars on Arabic literature and artificial intelligence, and special sessions dedicated to children’s literature. Music and gastronomy fans will not be left out, thanks to dedicated pavilions and culinary experiences featuring traditional dishes.

The first day, Monday November 4, will open with a welcome for guests, followed by the inauguration ceremony, marked by the opening of Arab country spaces and the holding of seminars and workshops throughout the day. Tuesday November 5 will also offer highlights such as the opening of the souk, an exhibition of unique cultural objects, and will conclude with a closing ceremony.

A turning point for cultural cooperation

Under the patronage of Prince Badr Ben Abdullah Ben Mohammed Ben Farhan Al Saoud, Minister of Culture, this initiative aims to strengthen collaboration between the Arab world and the West. It highlights Saudi Arabia as a central player in cultural promotion on the world stage, consolidating its position and that of its neighbors within a framework of dialogue and mutual respect.
