Festival de Hyères, review of the 39th edition
Under the Côte d’Azur sun, the Hyères Festival brought together the world of fashion, photography and accessories. From October 10 to 13, the gardens of Villa Noailles played host to this 39th edition, under the direction of Jean-Pierre Blanc.
For four days, emerging talents showcased their creativity in an atmosphere of artistic excitement. Each year, this festival enables young designers to gain recognition from a star-studded jury. This year, Nicolas Di Felice, Artistic Director of Courrèges, chaired the jury. Jean-Pierre Blanc reminded us at the opening of the festival that “freedom is a right that brings happiness to young people all over the world”. A powerful message, conveyed by designers from the four corners of the globe (France, Belgium, Israel, USA…).
Winners of the 39th edition
It’s hard to miss the winners of the Festival de Hyères 2024. Among them, Basile Pelletier won the American Vintage Prize for photography, Chiyang Duan took the Grand Prix du Jury for accessories, and Dolev Elron triumphed with the Grand Prix du Jury Première Vision for fashion.
“I fell in love with denim during my studies,” confides Dolev Elron, grand winner of the coveted prize. This young Israeli designer impressed with his shirts and bombers adorned with rounded seams. ” This material carries time and memory,” he explained. His collection, marked by eclectic references, is already a success story.
Unforgettable creations and discoveries
Visitors to the festival were able to discover a wide range of works, from Camille Combremont’s alienesque eyewear (Special Jury Mention) to the sculptural handbags of Clara Besnard, winner of the Hermès Prize for Fashion Accessories. One exhibition followed another in the corridors of the Villa Noailles. They offered a journey through different art forms, from black-and-white photos to sculptures and fashion creations.
Guests were also treated to memorable dinners and parties, including at the Lido beach and in a former swimming pool transformed into an ephemeral nightclub by Courrèges.
A unique place for creativity
The Hyères Festival has once again sublimated the Villa Romaine. This legendary venue was transformed into a showroom by Première Classe, a loyal partner since 2017. In a scenography designed by Paul Bonlarron, the works of the finalists from recent editions were brought face to face. A testimony to the creative evolution of the last forty years.
