Not sure where to go on a trip or weekend with your kids this year? There’s plenty to see around the world, but Paris might just be what you need. It’s a top choice for young and old alike, with many parents saying they had a great time. There’s a lot of history in the city to discover. For children, there are also some interesting activities. You can choose between cultural activities like museums, or fun ones like Disneyland. If you’re tempted, head for Paris! Here are the best activities you can easily do with your children.

Paris activities for children

We understand that not all children like the same things. But there are lots of different things to do in Paris. You’ll have no trouble finding something your kids will love. And we haven’t forgotten about you either! Here are a few ideas for activities:

Visit Disneyland Paris

Disneyland is an activity you won’t forget. The park is huge and there’s enough to keep you busy for at least a day. There’s something for all ages. It’s worth remembering to get your Disneyland Paris tickets as soon as possible if you’re booking a fixed date. There are often crowds, and tickets sell out fast. As far as accommodation is concerned, you can stay at Disney, in the surrounding area or in a hotel in Paris itself. The park is easily accessible from Paris by RER.

Going to the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie

This museum is located in the Parc de la Villette. Here you’ll find interactive exhibits for children of all ages. Head for the Cité des enfants to find an area designed especially for them, with plenty of activities to do. The exhibits cover a wide range of subjects, from nature to technology. There’s an area for 2-7 year-olds and for 5-12 year-olds. If you’re a parent who likes to see your child learn, this is perfect for you.

An afternoon in the Jardin d’Acclimatation

This garden is located in the Bois de Boulogne near Paris. There are rides, workshops and play areas. There’s also a small zoo with animals. As the park is outdoors, remember to bring weather-appropriate clothing. To get from one side of the park to the other, you can hop aboard a small train that crosses the park. There are also water attractions for hot weather.

Enjoy a cruise on the Seine

This activity is great for seeing a lot of Paris without having to walk. You can take a boat and see monuments from the water. As younger children can’t always walk much, they’ll be able to see as much of Paris as possible more easily. There are several companies offering these boat trips, with different offers.

Relax in the plant garden

If you’ve spent a day sightseeing, it’s normal to be a little tired. And with children, understandably, it’s even worse. Sometimes you need a little rest. The Jardin des Plantes is perfect for that. It’s very big and the garden is in the 5th arrondissement. There’s also the Museum of Natural History next door, which is well worth a visit. In the Jardin des Plantes, children can play, relax and have a picnic.

See animals at the Vincennes Zoo

Have you ever seen a child who doesn’t like animals? We haven’t either! This zoo has over 2,000 animals in environments that simulate their natural habitat. There’s lots to see, so make a day of it. Be sure to bring water in summer, as it can get very hot and there isn’t always much shade.

Our tips for visiting Paris with children

  • Take regular breaks so as not to tire the kids out too much. Paris has plenty of parks and green spaces for them.
  • Make sure you have the right clothes for the weather, and good walking shoes for the whole family. An umbrella can also come in handy in wetter weather.
  • Reserve tickets for the attractions as soon as possible. Tickets go fast and it would be a shame to miss out.
  • Do a minimum of organization. But don’t overload them. Follow your children’s rhythm, and plan for snacks and drinks too.
  • Choose less touristy seasons if you don’t like crowds. Paris is very popular and can be very crowded during school vacations and summer.
