Divine Jewels. In search of beauty: a free exhibition at the Hôtel de Mercy-Argenteau

From September 19 to 26, 2024, the Hôtel de Mercy-Argenteau opens its doors for a unique exhibition: Divine Jewels. In search of beauty . Elle promet de plonger les visiteurs dans l’univers fascinant des bijoux rares et historiques.

Organized by L’École des Arts Joailliers, this autumn’s exhibition unveils some twenty exceptional pieces from the Albion Art collection, owned by Kazumi Arikawa. He is one of the world’s greatest jewel collectors! The exhibition will last 8 days only. It offers a glimpse of the rarest pieces, from antique cameos and intaglios to 19th-century naturalistic jewelry.

Among the works on display are some iconic creations. René Lalique’s“Dancing Nymphs” pendant, a ballerina brooch by Van Cleef & Arpels dating from 1951, and a garland-style tiara designed by Filippo Chiappe in 1909. The exhibition also follows the ten chapters of Kazumi Arikawa’s book, Divine Jewels. In search of beauty launched to coincide with the opening of the event. The book, a veritable tribute to his career as a collector, serves as a narrative guide to the exhibition.

To ensure a complete and immersive experience, access to this exhibition will be by reservation only, with guided tours in small 30-minute groups. Historians from L’École des Arts Joailliers will accompany visitors as they explore the treasures of Kazumi Arikawa. Reservations for these tours will open in early September. Early registration is highly recommended to ensure you don’t miss this rare opportunity to discover jewels of unparalleled history.
