Olympic Games 2024: what rewards are given to medal-winning athletes?
Since the launch of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the podiums have been coming thick and fast at the various competition venues. But there’s one intriguing element… An award presented to the decorated athletes at the same time as their precious medal.
During the ceremonies for the Olympic winners of the Paris 2024 Olympics, the athletes on the podiums receive, logically, only a medal. However, they are also presented with another gift, one that many find mysterious. It’sa 40-centimeter box containing the event’s official poster. This poster, designed by Ugo Gattoni, is a work of art symbolizing the spirit of the Games and offering athletes a material souvenir of their participation.
But that’s not the only reward awarded to medal winners. After the ceremony, a gold, silver or bronze medal mascot is also presented to the athletes. Made in France, at the Doudou & Compagnie factory in La Guerche-de-Bretagne, these mascots feature the medal emblem sewn onto their belly, sneakers colored to match the medal, and the text “Bravo” inscribed on the back in French.
What’s in it for Paralympic athletes at the 2024 Olympics?
For the Paralympic Games, the medal-winning mascot is also presented at the winners’ ceremony. However, the “Bravo” inscription on the back of the plush will be in Braille. The Paralympic poster, meanwhile, is presented at a later date. The awards are distributed by 515 Paris 2024 volunteers . They all play an essential role in the smooth running of the ceremonies. Beyond their symbolic value, these gifts testify to the organizers’ commitment to creating a memorable experience for each medal-winning athlete.
