“We both talked a lot about Africa,” Lewis Hamilton told WWD in a joint interview with Kim Jones. The pilot, a regular at Paris Fashion Week, first met Jones in 2016, when the designer was still working at Louis Vuitton. Since then, their friendship has blossomed… So much so, that they’re planning a vacation together in Mozambique this summer! Kim Jones spent his childhood in several African countries.

He is passionate about conservation, sponsoring several endangered species. Their first collection addresses these themes, with garments made from 80% sustainable materials. They also incorporate African-inspired motifs. “Some of the fabrics were made in Burkina Faso. We work with someone who helps us source sustainable fabrics from across the continent.said Jones.

The collection includes denim and tweed pants, knitwear, sweatshirts and fleece tops made in part from organic or recycled textiles. You’ll also find technical clothing from Japanese manufacturer Descente. Accessories include B44 Blade and Snow sneakers, the latter adapted for snowboarding. The partnership comes as Lewis Hamilton, after 12 seasons with Mercedes, is set to join Ferrari in 2025. This decision will reunite the most successful driver in history as he pursues a record eighth title.
