On July 9, the Journal Officiel published the list of 521 personalities who will have the honor of receiving one of the French nation’s most prestigious honors on July 14th. They were chosen for their commitment to “serving the general interest and promoting the influence of France”. Traditionally, the July 14th promotion is announced on the eve of Bastille Day. This year, due to the political situation in France, Emmanuel Macron has decided to unveil the list a little earlier.

These personalities are first selected by ministers, then examined by the Conseil de l’ordre de la Légion d’honneur before receiving final approval from the President of the Republic. Recipients include Virginie Efira, Michel Drucker, Michel Cymes, Jean Reno, Elisabeth Borne and chef Alain Ducasse. These emblematic figures, recognized for their exceptional contribution, will be honored during this special promotion.
