Kenzo to dress French judokas for the Olympic Games
Japanese luxury House Kenzo accompanies French judo athletes for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The team will be wearing a Kimono-inspired outfit.
For the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, to be held from July 26 to August 11, Kenzo is partnering with the French judo team to provide them with bespoke uniforms. These outfits embody Parisian elegance while paying tribute to the rich heritage of Japanese martial arts. This project also reflects the commitment of the LVMH group, Kenzo’s parent company.
Indeed, the group headed by Bernard Arnault is a Premium Partner of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Their contribution extends to numerous projects, including the creation of medals, designed by Maison Chaumet. A Kimono set by Kenzo for the Olympic Games
For the occasion, Kenzo Artistic Director Nigo drew inspiration from the kimono to create these unique uniforms. Their design caused a sensation at the latest Autumn/Winter 2023 fashion show. It will now shine on the world stage at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Originally imagined in 8ᵉ century Japan, the kimono has evolved over time, particularly in terms of length and volume. Today, it has been reinvented as a ceremonial garment, paying homage to the brand’s Japanese roots. These uniforms, designed for ceremonial occasions, embody the values of discipline, respect and dedication so dear to both judo and Kenzo.
