5 exceptional hotels designed by Philippe Starck

French designer Philippe Starck has made a name for himself in fields as varied as industrial design, architecture, interior design, street furniture, office equipment, transport and even food. His creative genius gave life to some of the capital’s most magnificent hotels.

Hotel 9Confidentiel

Nestled in the Rue du Roi de Sicile, in the 4ᵉ arrondissement of Paris, Hotel 9Confidentiel is a new 5-star address imagined by Philippe Starck. Designed as an intimate jewel box, the hotel features 29 rooms and suites. Each of them bears an evocative woman’s name, such as Lucienne, Odette or Jacqueline, inviting the imagination. The hotel’s interior oscillates between neoclassicism and modernity.

The design combines light wood, brushed stainless steel, pink copper and wrought iron. Ara Starck’s living murals and Yann Masseyeff’s sculptures create a unique universe. The carpets designed by the Starck agency and manufactured by Pierre Frey combine symmetrical patterns in pastel shades, echoing the yellow Naples canvases adorned with white, grey and black designs. To complete the experience, in-room beauty and well-being treatments are offered in partnership with Codage.
