After arriving on May 28 in a special convoy, Boten was accompanied by his carers from La Flèche. They saw to his acclimatization for a few days. Boten’s integration with the three other resident elephants went smoothly. The four pachyderms can now be seen together on the African plain of Wow Safari Thoiry.

Saving Africa’s elephants

The elephant is a tragic symbol of poaching in Africa. According to the IUCN, the African elephant population has declined by 60% over the last 50 years. To help protect them, Thoiry Park is a partner of the Wild Life Angel association, which trains rangers to protect elephants and rhinos in Africa. In addition, 5 Thoiry groomers are actively involved in this mission, monitoring the reserves day and night.
