IFM opens the new season of Paris Fashion Week with a symbolic message
On Tuesday June 18 at 3:30 pm, 31 students from the Bachelor of Art in Fashion Design program presented their graduation collections on the campus of the Institut Français de la Mode during Paris Fashion Week Masculine. With an electro-pop ambiance, the catwalk featured unstructured jackets. But also balloon dresses reminiscent of the puffy trend, shoes made of shells and even plays on transparency.
But the most striking feature of the show was the white T-shirts bearing the symbolic inscription “Ceasefire now “. They are worn by each of the young designers during the finale. Although the conflicts in Kiev and Gaza were not officially mentioned, the reference remains implicit. The IFM’s Bachelor students took advantage of their fashion show to remind us that the mobilization of young people in fashion is very real. This gesture is all the more remarkable as it comes on the very first day of Paris Fashion Week. Notably, no brand or personality had spoken out about these conflicts at Milan Fashion Week the previous week.
Dries Van Noten bids farewell
Marked by a standing ovation, Dries Van Noten’s 129th show was his last before handing over the keys to his atelier to a new artistic director. After announcing last March his departure from his eponymous label after a career spanning 40 years, the Belgian designer is now bidding farewell to the world of shows. On a catwalk glittering with silver confetti, models sparkled down the runway in oversized suits and organza pants. All this, playing on transparency.
At the entrance, a huge illuminated cube projected archives of past shows. Over 900 guests, including fashion designers such as Thom Browne, Glenn Martens and Pierpaolo Piccioli, were on hand to salute his work. Venus Williams and actor Norman Reedus were also among the distinguished guests.
A$AP Rocky organizes an unexpected first fashion show
A$AP Rocky, the famous American rapper in a relationship with Rihanna, held his first-ever surprise fashion show in Paris on June 21. Surprisingly, there were no events for his AWGE brand on the official Paris Fashion Week men’s calendar. The fashion show took place on rue de l’Université, creating a veritable crowd of fans as they made their way to the Hôtel des Maisons, Karl Lagerfeld‘s former home.
Titled American Sabotage, the collection featured 30 meticulously crafted looks exploring ghetto expressionism. With talented support from Joshua Jamal, Bede Marchand and Coucou Bebe, American Sabotage offered a glimpse into Rocky’s creative instincts and spirit. As Fashion Killa, Rocky defies convention while uniting communities through culture.
Pharrell Williams continues to impress the fashion scene at Unesco headquarters
Since his first show as artistic director of the men’s collections at Louis Vuitton on the Pont Neuf in Paris… Pharrell Williams continues to dazzle us with a breathtaking fashion show at Unesco headquarters. Entitled The World is Yours, this symbolic parade highlights the world’s diversity. Notably through a fashion show in which all skin tones were represented. Indeed, Pharrell Williams has deliberately chosen to break racial taboos with the characteristic elegance of his Summer 25 men’s collection. Black models dressed in black. White models in white or beige. And the brown-toned mestizos all found their place on the catwalk.
Vogue World Paris brings Paris fashion week to a close
More clothes, more designers, more athletes, more cultures… In short, the legendary Vogue World returns to Paris. After a first edition in New York and a second in London… This new Parisian edition takes over the Place Vendôme to celebrate 100 years of fashion and sport. The date of the parade, June 23, was chosen to coincide with International Olympic Day.
Carine Roitfeld, Ib Kamara and Alexandre Samson designed this new edition of Vogue World. It is produced in collaboration with French youth sports academies. The goal? Combining sports such as cycling, gymnastics, tennis, taekwondo, fencing, break dancing… With themes representing every decade of French fashion since 1924.
