Maison Catherine André: the story of high-end French savoir-faire
Based in Millau, in the Occitanie region of France, the Catherine André house and its style have made it one of the world’s top fashion designers. Focus on his career and his poetic collections.
“Knitwear has its history. Universal and timeless… And it has its storyteller, Catherine André”. In every boutique, whether in Millau or in the heart of the capital, the House of Catherine André offers a reassuring experience, in a warm and intimate atmosphere, where true complicity reigns. The models, made in French workshops, travel to the 4 corners of the globe.
The collection invites all women, whether they’re from Aveyron, Paris, Japan, the USA, Italy, Russia or Saudi Arabia, to share its story and take part in its adventures. “The alchemy of all this, the creation that is constantly renewed, my openness to the world without bias, without particular attachments… All women can appropriate my clothes and recognize themselves in them,” reveals the designer.
Catherine André: a story that hangs by a thread
The creation of her eponymous brand is a tale woven of travel, adventure, encounters and intertwined dreams. Catherine André began her journey in the wilds of Ireland, where she discovered the treasures of tweed workshops. These human encounters and diverse cultures become an inexhaustible source of inspiration for her creations, which she calls her “Histoires-à-Porter”.
In 1995, she founded her own fashion house, placing creativity and quality at the heart of her work. Her collections, seductive with their timeless lines and unique jacquards, reflect an art in which color, material and volume are combined with mastery and emotion. Each piece tells a captivating story. They invite all women to join their extraordinary adventure!
A knitwear magician
Catherine André is a true knitwear magician. She began knitting on her return from a trip to Ireland, remembering her grandmother’s teachings. Her creations, like mesh travel journals, reflect her unique approach: “Mesh can be tight or loose, like writing, and it has no weft like fabric,” she explains.
“We treat mesh like fabric, and not many people do that”. Catherine André’s flowing, feminine garments emphasize emotion and sensuality. His creations are distinguished by meticulous attention to detail and a timelessness that never goes out of fashion. His collections evoke interior landscapes where nature and civilization meet. And they’re a big hit in Japan and the United States!
