Rolex, major partner of the “The Art of James Cameron” exhibition at the Cinémathèque Française

Rolex, the iconic luxury watchmaker, celebrates its long-standing partnership with director and explorer James Cameron. And as a major sponsor of the “The Art of James Cameron” exhibition. The event, which runs from April 4, 2024 to January 5, 2025 at the Cinémathèque française in Paris, pays tribute to six decades of artistic genius.

An exhibition not to be missed

The exhibition offers visitors a captivating immersion in James Cameron’s prolific artistic universe. Over 300 objects from his extensive private collection are on display, including sketches, paintings, photographs and 3D models. It retraces the filmmaker’s career and his many talents. From its beginnings to its most iconic achievements, such as Terminator, Titanic, Avatar and Aliens Returns. Each piece showcases James Cameron’s ingenuity and unique artistic vision.

James Cameron, renowned for his Oscar-winning achievements, is also famous for his exploits as an explorer and engineer. In 2012, he made history by solo piloting a submersible of his own design. All the way to the bottom of the Mariana Trench, 11,000 meters deep in the Pacific Ocean. An experimental Rolex watch was attached to the outside of the submersible. A testament to Rolex’s commitment to innovation and deep-sea exploration. As a tribute to this feat, Rolex launched the Oyster Perpetual Deepsea Challenge, a watch waterproof to 11,000 meters, ten years after this historic event.
