Protected: Andy Wahloo, the 404 and Derrière: 3 nugget spots to (re)discover in the Marais district
Paris Select invites you to discover 3 exceptional places nestled in the heart of the Marais: Andy Wahloo, Restaurant 404 and the secret “Derrière”. These spots, well known to the international jet set, have their own identity, style and atmosphere. The editors recommend you try them out this summer, as they remain open all summer long, even during the gaming season!
Located at 69 rue des Gravilliers in the 3rd arrondissement, this summer these establishments offer an original interlude of relaxation and gastronomy, right in the heart of Paris, yet far from the hustle and bustle of the Olympics. In fact, these addresses are within easy reach of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. So you won’t need a QR code to access them. That makes it easy to book a table!
These three exceptional addresses are the work of Mourad Mazouz. A visionary restaurateur, he began his adventure in Paris in 1988 with the opening of his first restaurant: Au Bascou. This was followed in 1990 by Restaurant 404, which he inaugurated in Paris. His concept: to highlight the excellence of Maghreb cuisine in a chic, convivial setting. After opening several successful establishments in London and Dubai, Mazouz returned to Paris in 2009 to launch Derrière. This hidden restaurant immediately captivated critics. Mazouz is renowned for her innovative approach to dining. She fuses culinary traditions with unique, immersive atmospheres. Her award-winning career underlines her influence on the international gastronomic scene.
The Andy Wahloo bar: a retro-chic atmosphere
Enter Andy Wahloo and you’re immediately immersed in a retro-chic atmosphere with Moroccan influences. The decor is surprisingly charming. The walls are adorned with oriental tapestries, while light fixtures diffuse a warm glow. As for the resolutely vintage furniture, it creates an atypical setting that makes the place unique and singular. This bar is a veritable cocoon, a cool oasis in the heart of the capital. The atmosphere is convivial, the service chic and relaxed. Ideal for getting together with friends, remaking the world or making new acquaintances!
The cocktail menu is rich in suggestions. Our favorite potion is the Marrakech Express! THE signature cocktail not to be missed. For those with a sweet tooth, the house baklava is a must. With its creative cocktails and original decor, Andy Wahloo is the perfect place to relax in the marsh, before or after a stroll in the neighborhood, or between two Olympic events. The bar is open all day from 3pm to 11pm, so you can enjoy its pleasant atmosphere and leafy terrace all afternoon and evening.

Restaurant 404: A culinary voyage of a thousand flavors
A few steps away, Restaurant 404 transports you to the heart of the Maghreb with its traditional Moroccan decor. Here, you don’t need to go on vacation to get away from it all. Simply sample the restaurant’s cuisine and you’ll feel transported. Dishes like lamb tajine with plums or couscous royal are prepared with a finesse that will make you forget you’re in Paris. Every bite is an invitation to discover the rich and varied flavors of Moroccan cuisine. Our favorite is undoubtedly the pastilla. This absolutely delicious chicken and almond pastry will leave you with an unforgettable taste experience. These tasty dishes, the comfort of the place and the warm atmosphere will transport you for an evening far from the hustle and bustle of Paris. Restaurant 404 certainly deserves the good reputation it has earned for over 15 years!

Accessible by crossing the 404, Derrière is an atypical restaurant, decorated like a Parisian apartment. The intimate atmosphere, with carefully selected antique furniture and works of art, invites you to enjoy a very special experience, a rare place in Paris. In this unusual setting, you can enjoy house cocktails such as Le Secret de Derrière, our favorite. The à la carte menu also features fusion dishes combining French and Oriental cuisine.
