Where to savor the best caviar in Paris ?

Synonymous with celebration, caviar is a delicate dish that we enjoy with pleasure during the holidays. This noble product instantly adds a touch of refinement to any meal. To treat yourself to this little luxury and elevate your Christmas table, here are the editorial team’s three favorite addresses.

Prunier

Prunier is a century-old house specialized in caviar. It was in 1921 that Émile Prunier discovered the abundance of sturgeons in the French rivers of the Gironde. He then proposed an alternative to Russian caviar and created a production entity. Thus becoming the first producer of French black gold. Four years later, he inaugurated his eponymous restaurant “Prunier” on Avenue Victor Hugo in Paris. Thereby making the capital the world center of caviar.

With mosaics evoking crustaceans and wavelets, punctuated by marble and mahogany chairs, the Prunier restaurant, with its Art Deco setting, can boast of having obtained the classification of a historical monument. Over the years, it has become the must-visit address for Parisian gourmets. In addition to their incredible fresh caviar, you can also delight in Balik salmon, tarama, king crab, oysters, and other high-quality seafood. By making their prices more accessible, the house aims to democratize and introduce everyone to a new way of enjoying this noble product.

Kaviari

For over 40 years, Maison Kaviari has been sourcing the finest caviars and seafood directly from the origin. The grains are refined in their Parisian laboratories and then packaged in numbered boxes… Each box contains the eggs of a single sturgeon! Thus, each case is unique, a true invitation to gastronomy.

Founded by Raphaël Bouchez and Jacques Nebot, Maison Kaviari is a place of life and discovery. Set in the historic workshops of the house, near the Opéra Bastille, the Kaviari Manufacture has been rehabilitated into a modern and warm loft. Every Tuesday and Thursday, tastings are organized by Bruno Higos. Naturally, it’s also possible to visit to purchase seafood products, smoked salmon, crab, bottarga… and rarer delicacies like Palamos octopus or Devon crab.

Caviar Kaspia

Of course, it’s impossible to talk about caviar without mentioning Caviar Kaspia! Founded in Paris in 1927, this luxurious restaurant specializing in Russian specialties is the house that contributed to the rise of “Caviar Culture,” imposing it on the most prestigious tables.

In the early 20th century, its caviar was enjoyed by the great names of Russian aristocracy. For 80 years, the famous Parisian institution created by Mr. Arcady Fixon has become one of the prime meeting spots for the Jet Set. Politicians, actors, or singers, Caviar Kaspia attracts both fine gourmets and French and international celebrities alike. Between a glass of champagne and a bite of caviar, you’ll certainly encounter several! Among the must-try bestsellers of the house: Baeri caviar with its slightly iodized taste, Osciètre Gold – the “Rolls Royce” of caviar! – and Beluga.

A synonym of pleasure and refinement, this legendary restaurant on Place de la Madeleine brings together all the ingredients for a great time.
